This weekend was short, but somehow it felt like I experienced so much.
Kenneth stayed over on Friday night, and we started Saturday simply with breakfast before heading to The Star Vista for lunch. It was also nice seeing him have his first Yo-Chi. Nothing particularly extravagant, but I enjoyed the simplicity of spending an ordinary day together.
After lunch, we made our way to W Sentosa for our staycation. We took a slow stroll around Quayside Isle before heading to AF Sentosa for a gym session. It felt good to still have our usual routine of training together even while on a little getaway.
Afterwards, we had a simple Mediterranean dinner before spending some time by the pool, just relaxing and enjoying the hotel atmosphere. Some gay partyers made conversation with us and we stayed in the pool for longer than we expected. By then it was getting late, so we went back to the room and rested.
The next morning, we had breakfast at the hotel before checking out. Kenneth headed to a gym near his house in Bishan while I went to watch All Wishes Come True on my own. I enjoyed having some quiet time to myself and watching a movie without having to do anything else. Movie was interesting but I had to go to the toilet three times due to the giant sized iced lemon tea with popcorn set I bought for myself.
We met up again afterwards and went to Bryan's new home. It was cool seeing that he had moved to a place right next to Kenneth's home. Yuhao joined us too, and the five of us, together with Jacintha, spent the afternoon playing board games and laughing together like old times.
It was one of those weekends where nothing particularly extraordinary happened, yet it felt incredibly full. There was time with Kenneth, time alone, exercise, good food, a staycation, a movie, and time with old friends. The different parts of my life seemed to fit together naturally over those two days.
When I finally went home, I felt a slight sadness knowing that the weekend had come to an end. I think it was because I had been genuinely happy throughout it. There was no single big event that made the weekend special. It was the accumulation of all these small moments — waking up together, walking around Sentosa, training, relaxing by the pool, watching a movie alone, laughing with friends, and simply having nowhere else I needed to be. The time dilation of doing so many different things in one day made it feel like a much longer weekend spent than it really was, but yet it also felt really short when it ended.
Perhaps that is what made the weekend feel so full despite being so short.
A reminder that a good life does not necessarily need grand experiences. Sometimes it is just a collection of ordinary moments with the people I love, friends who have been around for years, and enough space to enjoy my own company too.
